A book is a story. No matter what form they are in a book is a book. Every book, although different, is the same. This doesn't make sense but at the same time it does. A book is to a story as running is to jogging. In order to run you have to jog first kind of like books .The book is the whole or the "big picture" and the story is what makes it up.
Joe Meno talks about how a book is the same no matter what form it is in which I definitely agree with. Personally I prefer only to read paperback books but that doesn't mean that I think a book on a kindle isn't a "real book". If you're reading a paperback book and your friend is reading the same book on a kindle are you going to tell them they aren't actually reading the book? No, because they are reading the book. This argument about books is like life. Just because someone doesn't agree with what you think or like what you like doesn't mean it’s wrong. It just means you don't agree. If someone were to tell me I wasn't actually reading a book because it’s not a physical copy that would make me somewhat mad. Like I said books are books and books are stories. The stories don't change from copy to copy. If you have a certain book you have that book in all forms no matter which you may prefer.
Nancy Jo Sales says she really only likes "the physicality of a book" because that is what makes it a book. She also talks about how books will never disappear which I do agree with. Just because books are becoming more readily available on electronic devices does not mean that physical books are going to go away. There will always be people who only like physical books. Even in schools they will not be replacing physical books because it would be a shame to have "classic" books put on to devices.
Overall I believe a book is a book no matter what and no matter what reading method people prefer physical books will never go away.
